We are a Central Texas agency. If you run a med spa in Tampa and you found this page looking for someone to take over your local search, we are going to say no — and the reasoning is worth more to you than a sales call would be, so here it is.
Start with the part most agencies would rather you did not think about.
Most of the work does not care where the agency sits
Categories and services on the Google Business Profile. Photos, and the rules about which ones can be published. Review replies, on a schedule. Citation cleanup across directories. Hours, holiday hours, booking links, schema on the site. Every one of those is done through shared account access, and the job is the same in Tampa as it is in Temple.
An agency in your zip code has no mechanical advantage at any of it. Anyone selling proximity as the reason to hire them is selling the easiest thing to verify and the least useful thing to buy.
Two things that genuinely benefit from local
Someone has to actually look at your map. Not a rank-tracking chart — a person searching the terms your patients search, in your city, and being able to say which three businesses hold the pack this month and what changed since last month. That is a habit, and habits are geographic. An agency running forty markets is running a report; an agency running six is looking.
Exclusivity has to mean something. If an agency works your city and your category, it should not also be working your nearest competitor. Ask directly, and ask for it in writing. The unit that matters is the trade plus the city on your Google Business Profile — anything vaguer than that reopens the question the moment a competitor calls them.
Five questions for the agencies who do say yes
- Who else in my city do you work with in my category, right now? Not “we honor exclusivity.” Names, or a written slot.
- When this ends, who owns the profile, the site and the listings? If listings disappear when you stop paying, you were renting, and the consistency goes with them.
- What arrives each month, and does it name what shipped? A page that lists calls, directions, clicks and new reviews is a report. A page that also lists what was done is accountability.
- What happens in a month where the work does not get done? The answer should be a term in the agreement, not a sentiment.
- What will you not promise me? An agency that has never said no to a prospect is not selective, it is available. Anyone willing to promise you a ranking position is promising something nobody controls.
That last one filters faster than the other four combined. Ranking is Google’s decision, and it is not for sale — not from us, and not from anyone you shortlist.
Why we say no
Three reasons, all boring.
We work Central Texas only, and the work is only worth paying for when the agency doing it is actually watching that market. We would be scanning a metro we do not know, against competitors we have never seen, for a patient population whose search habits we have not sat with.
There is also capacity. There is a real number of profiles one person can keep correct in a month, and it is smaller than most agencies imply. Saying yes to Tampa would mean saying a quieter, worse no to someone in San Antonio.
If you are in Central Texas
If your med spa is in Austin, San Antonio, Temple, Killeen or Waco, that is our map, and the monthly work is the profile itself — categories, services, photos, and reviews answered within one business day. See local SEO for med spas. If you are in Tampa, take the five questions with you; they cost nothing and they work anywhere.
