We read Google’s map results for “mobile detailing round rock” on 31 August 2026 with the location set to Round Rock. Three detailers held the pack, all three published a street address, and the one with the most reviews finished last of the three.
The cards, as they read:
| Seat | Business | Rating | Reviews | Card details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mobile Detailing TX | 4.9 | 44 | O’Connor Dr address, 512 number |
| 2 | Round Rock Mobile Detailing | 5.0 | 25 | Dyer Crossing Way address, 512 number |
| 3 | Precision Auto Mobile Detailing Tx | 4.9 | 106 | 5+ years in business, Rock Midden Ln address, 808 number |
Everyone in this pack is showing an address
The word “mobile” is in the query and in two of the three business names. All three cards nonetheless displayed a street address.
Google’s guidance for businesses that travel to their customers is to configure a service area, and profiles set up that way do not display a street address publicly. What is on these cards is what a profile shows when an address is published instead. We are reporting what the pack displayed, not inferring how each business chose to set itself up — that is visible only from inside the profile.
It is worth flagging because the assumption runs in the other direction. Detailers are frequently told that publishing an address will keep them out of the pack, and on 31 August in Round Rock the entire pack had one. (Storefront or service area, and how the choice changes the profile.)
106 reviews, third seat
Seat three has four times the reviews of seat one and more than four times seat two, at a rating within a tenth of both. It also carries the only years-in-business chip on the page.
By every number a customer can see, it is the strongest of the three. It is also the one a customer scanning the pack top-down reads last.
Whatever ordered this pack was not review count, and the leading candidate — where the person searching happens to be standing — is not something any of these three can adjust. (What we count in a monthly report, and what we do not pretend to control.)
The 808 area code
Seat three lists a phone number with an 808 area code. Round Rock is 512.
We noted the same shape in Waco two weeks earlier, where a pack leader carried a 715 number in a 254 market. Twice in a month is a pattern worth recording, not a finding — and specifically not advice. We are not suggesting an area code helps or hurts, because we have no data either way and the honest position is that we do not know.
What is defensible is narrower: a local phone number is one of the details a customer reads before dialing, and it costs nothing to have one that matches the market you serve.
What a detailer nearby should do with this
Not chase 106 reviews. Seat three already has them.
Check instead that the primary category is the specific one, that the service area reflects the towns you actually drive to, that the hours are true, and that the services are listed individually rather than as one line. Those are the parts of the card that are yours. (The slow months are when this work is easiest to do.)
Method and its limits. Read from the Google search results page rather than Google Maps, location set explicitly to Round Rock, chip confirmed before any figure was recorded. The browser was signed in from Austin, so this is a location-set reading and not a phone standing in Round Rock. Packs change daily; everything above is dated 31 August 2026.
Three seats, one query, one morning — and four of the things separating them are fields on a profile. Getting those right for a detailing business is the work we do.
